Castleton, Derbyshire, Caravan and Motorhome Club Site.

Nestled amongst the hills of the Peak District National Park, Casleton CAMC site is beautifully laid out with low hedges separating some of the pitches.

The site facilities were clean and easily accessible to the pitches.

The few 'extras' that the site offered were a welcome addition. There was a 'help yourself' herb garden, a drying room for your wet kit and a games room including a table tennis table and pool table.

The Surrounding Area

Castleton itself is about a half mile walk from the site and offers some wonderful gift shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants.

The site is a fabulous base for exploring the Peak District National Park.

Attractions include Peveril Castle, a circular walk to Mam Tor (which has one of the most dramatic vistas in the Peak District), Winnats Pass (a spectacular limestone gorge) and Cave Dale (a spectacular valley).

You can also visit the Castleton Caverns including the Blue John Cavern, named after the Blue John rock mineral that can only be found in Castleton and nowhere else in the world!

A few of the gift shops in Castleton sell jewellery etc that is made of Blue John.

We met some of the family that go mining for Blue John in one of the gift shops and that's how we learnt about its rarity.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this site and we intend to go go back there for a longer stay.
